The Model NN is exceptionally durable, protected from rust and corrosion with a housing made of hot dipped galvanized .25 inch steel plating. This housing is rust and corrosion resistant, never needs painting, and provides years of care free service.

The heavy-duty worm gear drive in an aluminum case with oil bath eliminates the need for roller chains, drive belts or special maintenance. The powerful 1/3 HP rated, instant reversing motor provides extended life to the unit and is available in either single phase or triple phase (and in most voltages). With the Stearns electro-mechanical disc brake, the Model NN halts faster than gates with conventional drag brakes, reducing motor strain.

The Model NN Gate is equipped with large, over-sized roadway and field doors and a removable cover to permit easy access for maintenance of the gate operating mechanism within the housing. The bottom of the housing is entirely open, leaving ample space for incoming conduit and cable.

The standard gate arm is constructed of select white pine, shaped into a wishbone fashion and striped with black and white enamel paint. This extra-rugged wishbone gate arm is braced and trussed throughout to prevent sway, using turnbuckles for field adjustments. Adjustable counterweights – all steel, primed and slide adjustable – provide accurate balance to minimize wear and tear on the gate arm. Optional fiberglass gate arms are available. All Aluminum/Fiberglass combination gates and fiber glass gates up to 32 ft. are furnished with a 3 ft. aluminum sleeve in the butt section and fiberglass gates over 32 ft. are furnished with a 8 ft. aluminum sleeve. These arms are a single mast and are available with a pivot type breakaway adapter with shear bolts. The Model NN accommodates gate arms ranging from 14 ft. to 38 ft. (1 m to 2.9 m) and only requires 11 seconds to raise or lower. Arms exceeding 31 ft. (2.4 m) in length are equipped with a buffer rod. The gate is available with sidewalk arms, folding fence, reflective striping and weatherproof lights.

The Edko Federal Series Model NN Industrial Barrier Gate shall raise or lower when an operating attendant activates a push-button control. The gate arm shaft begins its acceleration at the 0° position, and the speed gradually increases until the gate arm reaches the 45° position of its travel for both lowering and raising of the gate arm. This feature of operation allows the gate to come to slow stop at the 90° position without jar, thus eliminating undesirable strain on both the gate arm and operational mechanisms. The Model NN Industrial Barrier Gate shall provide a complete cycle length from vertical to horizontal arm position in eleven seconds.

The Model NN Industrial Barrier Gate housing shall be manufactured from welded, hot dipped, galvanized .25 inch (6.4mm) steel plate to provide resistance from rust and corrosion. The Model NN Gate shall provide large, gasketed, weatherproof, removable roadway and field doors to provide easy access for installation and service. The large door and removable cover shall permit easy access for maintenance of the gate operating mechanism within the housing. The bottom of the housing shall be entirely open to leave ample space for incoming conduit and cable. Main shaft bearings shall be composed of #4 grade Babbitt metal and be provided with grease fittings. Bases for the bearings shall be welded to the housing before galvanization.

The Edko Federal Series Model NN Industrial Barrier Gate housing shall be: 16 in W x 52 in H x 24 in D (406 mm W x 1321 mm H x 610 mm D). Gate arms shall be available in 14 to 38 ft. (1 to 2.9m) lengths. The center line of the arm shall be 44 in (1118 mm) above the foundation base line. Shipping weight shall vary according to the length of the gate arm ordered due to varying counter balancing weights. Four mounting holes shall be provided in the base of the unit for one-inch anchor bolts. Spacing shall be 20.5 inches (520 mm) center-to-center in depth and 19.5 inches (495 mm) center-to-center in width.

The standard Model NN Industrial Barrier Gate shall be equipped with a 1/3 HP rated, 115 VAC, single phase, 60 cycle instant reversing motor with a Stearns electro-mechanical disc brake. Other voltages are available when specified. Timing for one cycle shall be approximately eleven seconds to either raise or lower the gate. The Model NN shall provide the drive components mounted onto a single, rugged, structural steel base, which shall be bolted to the housing. The reducer shall be located on the top of the drive base and the motor shall be under slung from the bottom of the base, with the spur gear train transmitting the power from the motor to the input shaft of the reducer. The Model NN shall provide an output shaft of the reducer with a crank. Attached to the crank shall be a connecting rod, which operates a lever on the roadway arm shaft. The transmission shall be set up with crank and connecting rod for 90° gate arm operation. The Model NN shall have a completely enclosed, oil bath, worm type speed reducer connected to the motor assembly by a spur gear train. The totally enclosed worm gear unit shall consist of an alloy steel worm and a full bronze or alloy steel worm gear mounted in a dust-tight extra rugged cast aluminum housing with oil bath, output shaft running in Chrysler OILITE Bearings, input shaft running in Timken tapered thrust bearings of ample size for both radial and thrust loads, and also oil seals. The design of the worm and worm gear shall be such as to make the unit self-locking for any position of the gate arm when the driving motor is de-energized.

Standard electrical supply to the Model NN Gate shall be 115 VAC, 60 Hz (single phase). Other power requirements shall be available when specified. The Model NN shall be equipped with type “A” closed type limit switches rated at 250 VAC, 30 Ampere.
